Dark eye circles do not have one single cause. They may come from brown pigment, blood vessels showing through thin skin, shadows from hollows, loose skin, or a mix of these problems. This is why Re2O and Rejuran are not simple substitutes for each other.
Re2O, sometimes written as “RE20” on clinic websites, is made from human acellular dermal matrix (hADM). This is processed human skin tissue with the cells removed, keeping the extracellular matrix — the support framework around skin cells. Rejuran products use polynucleotides (PN), chains made from small DNA building blocks, with the aim of improving skin quality and helping tissue repair.
The two products use different materials and have different roles. Neither treats every cause of dark eye circles. There is no direct trial comparing them for dark eye circles and proving that one is better. Results and recovery vary from person to person, product to product, and with the injection method. Your doctor should first evaluate the likely causes, then explain the limits, suitability and risks of each option.
Why does the cause of dark eye circles come first?
“Dark eye circles” describes how the area looks. Skin, pigment, blood vessels, soft tissue and facial structure can all play a part. The treatment must therefore match the cause, not just the dark colour. A clinical review of periorbital darkness describes several possible contributing factors.
Doctors often group dark circles into four broad patterns:
Pigmentary
Usually brown; may relate to melanin, sun exposure or inflammation.
Vascular / thin skin
May look blue, purple or red when vessels show through thin skin.
Structural shadow
A hollow can change how light falls between the lower eyelid and cheek.
Mixed
Two or more causes may overlap in the same person.
Your doctor may also check skin quality, eye bags, loose skin, allergies, frequent eye rubbing, medical history and lifestyle factors. If brown pigment is the main cause, neither Re2O nor Rejuran directly removes it. If a deep tear trough creates a shadow, supporting the skin is not the same as replacing lost volume. Other care may be more relevant when loose skin, large eye bags, or a medical or allergy-related issue is the main cause.

What is Re2O intended to do?
The official product name is Re2O (pronounced “Re Two Oh”), not RE20. Re2O is an hADM — human acellular dermal matrix — product. hADM refers to the structural support framework found around skin cells, including collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans such as hyaluronic acid.
When injected, it is intended to support and integrate into the skin and tissues. It may be discussed for skin-quality concerns such as the look of fine lines, scars and texture. Re2O does not replace volume in a true tear-trough hollow.
Re2O and Re2O Fine are discussed as variants, with Re2O Fine intended for thinner-skin areas such as under the eyes. The exact product, its suitability and the treatment plan should be confirmed with the doctor.
What is Rejuran intended to do?
Rejuran is a family of PN products, including Rejuran Healer, Rejuran I, Rejuran S and Rejuran HB+. PN is used with tissue-repair and skin-quality goals. Possible skin-quality changes discussed include texture, hydration and the look of fine lines over a course of sessions.

When might a doctor consider both?
Some people have more than one treatment need. A doctor may find that the skin needs support as well as help with texture or fine lines. In selected cases, hADM and PN may be discussed as part of a treatment plan, either at different stages or together.
Reborn’s Re² Double Collagen Booster is a clinic programme combining PN and hADM. Whether a combined plan makes sense depends on the contributing causes; it is not automatically more effective, and not every patient needs both materials.
What downtime can reasonably be expected?
Both treatments involve injections, by needle or cannula according to the plan. Temporary redness, swelling, soreness, bruising, visible needle marks or small bumps may occur. Small bumps after manual Re2O injections may settle in a day or two, and mild swelling after under-eye Re2O Fine may also last a day or two. With Rejuran, raised bumps can remain visible for a few days. These are estimates, not guarantees.
Recovery depends on the exact product, preparation, amount used, injection method, treatment area and individual response. Injections are not risk-free. Your treating doctor should explain risks, aftercare and suitability during consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Can Re2O replace Rejuran?
Re2O is not a simple substitute. Re2O is an hADM product linked to support for the skin and the area around its cells. Rejuran uses PN for tissue-repair and skin-quality goals. They address slightly different things in the skin.
Should I choose Re2O or Re2O Fine?
Re2O is the original product, designed for injection across the face and neck. Re2O Fine has smaller particles and is designed for thinner-skin areas such as the under-eye region. Your doctor should confirm the exact variant and whether it is suitable for you.
Is Rejuran better for dark eye circles?
There is no direct trial for dark eye circles proving that one is better. Rejuran has a longer use record for wrinkles and skin quality around the eyes. This does not prove that it treats every cause of under-eye darkness.
Can Re2O and Rejuran be used in one plan?
A doctor may consider them together when each has a separate and useful role. A combined plan depends on the person's needs. It is not always more effective, and not every patient needs both.
How long do injection bumps last?
The time varies with the product, formula, injection method and person. Injection bumps and irritation usually settle within a few days.
A thorough consultation is the practical first step
Re2O and Rejuran use different materials and have different roles. For dark eye circles, the first step is to find out whether the main cause is brown pigment, visible blood vessels or thin skin, a shadow from a hollow, loose skin, or a mix.
If you are considering treatment, request a consultation with a licensed doctor. The doctor can assess the likely cause, discuss suitable options, and explain the limits, temporary effects and risks of the exact product being offered.
